Nov. 8 & 9 • *Beethoven's Ninth Symphony* "Ode to Joy"** To celebrate our 40th birthday, Boston Baroque open’s with the spectacular Ninth Symphony of Beethoven--the only Beethoven symphony that we have not yet performed. This concert will feature Leah Partridge, soprano, Ann McMahon Quintero, mezzo-soprano, William Burden, tenor, Kevin Deas, bass and the Boston Baroque Chorus..
Dec. 13 & 14 • Handel's Messiah In time for the holidays, Boston Baroque will present its annual standing-room-only performances of George Frideric Handel's best-known work, Messiah. Soloists include soprano Kiera Duffy, mezzo-soprano Kate Lindsey, tenor Nicholas Phan and bass Jesse Blumberg.
Dec. 31 & Jan. 1 • Bach's Brandenburg Concertos No. 3 & No. 4; and The Coffee Cantata Following an annual tradition, Boston Baroque will once again "pop the cork" in grand style on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day with a rousing all-Bach program. Concerts will include champagne and chocolates at intermission! Soloists for the Coffee Cantata will include some of Boston's own favorites: soprano Kristen Watson, tenor, Matthew Anderson and baritone Andrew Garland.
Feb. 14 & 16 • Rameau's opera, La Guirlande and Charpentier's Te Deum Boston Baroque has a stunning program of French Baroque for Valentine's Day Weekend 2014. The performances will feature a stellar cast including some of Boston Baroque favoriteS: soprano Amanda Forsythe, haute-contre Lawrence Wiliford and baritone Andrew Garland.
April 25&26 • Opera: Monteverdi's Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria The anniversary season culminates with Monteverdi’s masterpiece opera, Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria. In a new performing version by Martin Pearlman, and semi-staged by acclaimed director Mark Streshinsky, these performances will feature tenor Fernando Guimarães as Ulisse and mezzo-soprano Jennifer Rivera as Penelope. Mezzo-soprano Leah Wool sings the role of Minerva, tenor Daniel Auchincloss sings Eumete, mezzo-soprano Abigail Nims sings Melanto, tenor Aaron Sheehan sings Telemaco, tenor Daniel Shirley sings Eurimaco, tenor Marc Molomot sings Iro, soprano Sara Heaton is Amore and countertenor Christopher Lowrey is L’humana fragilità.
